In his own words 

I was terrified that day I had to go to court. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I thought I was going to lose my house. 

I met this lady from MABS just outside the courtroom and she explained exactly what was going to happen, even that put me more at ease. 

After the court, she made an appointment for me in the local MABS office. 

I worked in construction. Then it got quiet [and] the work dried up and I found myself in debt and it just began to pile up … I had been trying to do it all on my own, but was getting nowhere. When I went for my appointment, the guy in MABS went through my options and talked me through the best one for me. From the start, he was sure it would work. Once MABS started to deal with the bank on my behalf, it was a tremendous relief, and I could see progress being made. 

They put a proposal together for the bank with amounts I could afford. It was much more manageable. I was so anxious waiting to see if they would accept it, but MABS constantly reassured me. When I got confirmation that it was accepted, I was overjoyed. I could see light at the end of the tunnel. I even had money in my pocket.

There are no more phone calls, letters or worries about knocks to the door. This is a new beginning. After a year of being treated like a child by the bank who wanted to impose their own solution … I felt I had someone on my side at last.
